International Women's day

In celebration of Women's Day, the women volunteer teachers at Kurinji Academy got a well-deserved break, and the men stepped in to teach the classes. It was a great reminder of how challenging it can be to teach Tamil to kids—or just keep them listening! 😀 During assembly, we talked about the significance of International Women's Day. We also did a fun activity where students were asked to draw a pilot and a chef, and name each character. Interestingly, most chose male names for pilots and female names for chefs. This led to a brief yet insightful conversation about gender bias and stereotypes in job roles. We highlighted the importance of treating men and women as equals and respecting each other within our homes and communities. For our Malar Level students, we added an extra session where we watched and discussed a video on gender equity in Tamil. The kids impressed us with their efforts to share their thoughts in Tamil about the video content.
